Trip to Charlotte - Part 1

Last weekend we went on a long trip to Charlotte, NC by long I mean 8 hours to and 11 hours from there. Caleb by the 6.5 hour of the trip shouted "I don't wanna sit anymore!", so he scooted over to me and I held him on my arms while he fell asleep.

We knew that the drive would be too tiring so we stopped at Virginia to take the night's rest and drive the remaining 3.5 hours the next day. We arrived at around 1:30 AM and checked-in at Courtyard by Marriott, I was very impressed with this hotel, the interiors was nice and definitely an upgrade to what we were used to. Yes, I'm cheap with my hotel stays. I have had good experience bidding hotels at Priceline and this one is no exception. I paid 50 for an 89/night stay, woohoo and the hotel is 3-stars. My only peeve is that it does not include breakfast, they do have a cafe but it's highway robbery! Bacon + bread + eggs + coffee/juice 8.00+++ eerrrr no way so I brought my own sandwich bread, mamon/ensamaida from Red Ribbon and peanut butter.

We arrived in Charlotte at 1:15 PM and toured the city looking for something to eat, the city is 1/8 of NYC but it was quite clean. We finally chose a Thai place only to discover they open at 5:00 PM on weekends, chose another resto and yes, they open at 5:00 PM. A family oriented place indeed but I don't know if that's a good thing (restos open only at dinner) or not. We finally settled on a Kebab Restaurant that was thankfully open. It was quite expensivo but we had no choice we were starving and we were sick and tired of american food. Yiek liked the food very much, I ordered shewerma (yes that is how they spell it) and I was not impressed. I haven't found a shawarma like the one in Ayala here in the US of A and it was something I missed eating while I was on vacation last Dec 09.  We had a little accident, Caleb spilled coke and instinctively, I reached out to prevent the glass from falling, I was holding Zaia and she bumped her head on the table drawing some gasps from other customers. Eeeppp, bad mama! I felt guilty but that was my instinct running ya know.

Tried their groceries and bought pull-ups and wipes, the prices were comparable but I find that my favorite grocery store Shoprite has more deals and cheaper by a few cents. Toured the city once more and decided to rest by checking-in at our chosen hotel, also booked at Priceline. WE stayed at Four Points by Sheraton, I wasn't that impressed compared to the hotel we stayed before but since this is $10 cheaper I have no right to complain.
